NEHL Alnwick 2020

In Running by Stuart Whitman

The North East Harrier League returned to Alnwick on leap day for what would normally be the final fixture of the 2019/20 season. On what turned out to be a generally sunny day after all the recent storms it was the green and gold of Wallsend Harriers who had a double celebration winning both the senior men’s and women’s race.

Probably the best backdrop to a Harrier League Cross Country event. Alnwick pastures overlooking Alnwick Castle.

A revised course incorporating a new route uphill towards the gravel path and additional loop used in the North Eastern’s proved a welcome challenge as did the herd of sheep during the women’s race (apparently).
