The 2nd Birtley cross country relays incorporating the NEMAA Open XC Relay Championships took place on the playing fields and embankments of Lord Lawson of Beamish Academy.

In a eventful first race Conrad Franks ran a 10:19 on the first leg which along with team mates Kevin Connelly and Steven Medd enabled Gateshead Harriers “A” team to win North East Masters Men Open Cross Country Relays.

Birtley AC “A” team comprising Chloe Price, Lydia Turner and Sophie Burnett won the Senior Women’s race whilst Amy Fuller continued her recent excellent form with fastest women’s time 11:47 helping Elswick Harriers to 3rd place.

Alex Brown ran a 9:47 for fastest time on the 3rd leg of the Senior Mens race to help his Morpeth Harriers “A” team to the win.
