If Heineken did midweek friendly trail runs then Wednesday evenings Newburn River Run hosted by Elswick Harriers might be it. As friends and families had picnics in the evening shunshine the runners were greeted to a revised out and back route that starts in the Tyne Riverside Country Park and goes along Cycle Route 72 towards Wylam.
With the news that the landslip on the Keelmans’ Way on the south side of the Tyne is being fixed the hope is that next year may see the race return to it's traditional route. Either way I'm looking forward to the 2023 event.
